Wolverine Killed Near Lost Trail Pass
December 18, 2014
An adult female wolverine was killed in a vehicle collision on US 93 approximately 4 highway miles south of Lost Trail Pass, on 6 December 2014 at 5:00 am. The driver retrieved the carcass and turned it over to Idaho Department of Fish and Game. He was driving in the northbound lane of US 93 about 1.5 miles north of Moose Creek Estates and saw an animal he thought was a skunk in the center of the road. He swerved to miss the animal, but clipped it with his right rear wheel. The wolverine died on impact. A preliminary search of observation databases shows this to be the first wolverine mortality attributed to a vehicle collision in Idaho. For more information contact Idaho Department of Fish and Game, Salmon Field Office.
